Step 1: Insert the Code Chip and Start the Device
Each new box of test strips comes with its own code chip—this contains important calibration data.
- Insert the new code chip into the slot on the side of the meter.
- Discard any old code chips.
- Insert a ketone test strip into the top of the meter.
The meter will turn on automatically. Wait until the blinking blood droplet appears on the screen.
Step 2: Prick Your Finger
Use the lancing device to obtain a blood droplet:
- Ensure it is charged (cocked) and adjusted to the right depth.
- Press it against the side of your fingertip—not the center—for less discomfort.
- Press the release button to launch the needle and create a small drop of blood.
Step 3: Apply the Blood Sample
- Hold the meter horizontally so the strip gently touches the blood droplet.
- The strip will automatically absorb the blood.
- The meter will begin a countdown.
- After a few seconds, your ketone result will appear on screen.
