What makes Real Salt different from table salt?
Real Salt is harvested from an ancient, underground salt deposit in Utah that was formed millions of years ago from a pristine inland sea. Unlike refined table salt, Real Salt is completely unprocessed and contains over 60 natural trace minerals that your body needs. Table salt is heavily processed, stripped of all minerals, and contains anti-caking agents and added iodine. Real Salt has never been exposed to modern pollution and retains its natural pink color from iron oxide, while table salt is bleached white. The taste difference is remarkable—Real Salt has a clean, pure flavor without the harsh bite of processed salt.
Is Real Salt better than Himalayan salt?
Both Real Salt and Himalayan salt are excellent unrefined options from ancient sea deposits, but Real Salt offers several advantages. Real Salt comes from the USA (Utah), making it more sustainable with a smaller carbon footprint than Himalayan salt shipped from Pakistan. Real Salt is consistently high quality since we control the entire process from mine to package, while Himalayan salt quality varies between different mines and companies. Real Salt typically costs about half the price of Himalayan salt, and taste-wise, Real Salt is slightly sweeter while Himalayan is more earthy. Both contain similar trace mineral profiles, but Real Salt's operations are solar-powered and support American jobs.

How much Real Salt should I use in cooking?
Use Real Salt just like you would any premium salt, but you may find you need slightly less due to its pure, clean flavor. For cooking, start with the same amount as your recipe calls for and adjust to taste. Real Salt dissolves easily and distributes evenly, so a little goes a long way. For pasta water, use about 1 tablespoon per gallon of water. When seasoning meats, use about 1/2 teaspoon per pound. For baking, Real Salt can replace table salt 1:1 in recipes. Since Real Salt has a cleaner taste without chemical aftertastes, you might discover you prefer using less salt overall while achieving better flavor results.
Are Real Salt seasonings organic?
Yes! Real Salt Organic Seasonings are certified organic and made with Real Salt combined with organic herbs and spices. Our organic seasoning line includes Garlic Salt, Onion Salt, Season Salt, and Chili Lime, all certified organic by third-party agencies. These seasonings contain no artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, or anti-caking agents—just Real Salt and organic ingredients. However, not all Real Salt products are organic—our plain Real Salt is naturally pure and unrefined but not certified organic since salt is a mineral. Always check the label to confirm which seasonings are part of our organic line.
What's the difference between Real Salt grain sizes?
We offer three main grain sizes to suit different cooking needs. Real Salt Fine is our most popular—perfect for everyday cooking, baking, and table use with easy dissolution and even distribution. Real Salt Kosher has larger, flakier crystals ideal for seasoning meats, rimming cocktail glasses, and finishing dishes where you want a satisfying crunch. Real Salt Coarse comes in a grinder and provides the largest crystals for maximum flavor impact—perfect for steaks, roasted vegetables, and when you want to control the exact amount of salt. All grain sizes have identical mineral content and flavor; it's simply a matter of texture and application preference.
